Back to School and Back to the Dinner Table
Fall is here, which means back to school, back to a more organized schedule and hopefully back to the dinner table. As we search for the best ways to nourish our family, think about what is fresh and delicious this time of year. Fresh, local produce at the peak or ripeness and flavor is always best. The variety of fruits and vegetables in the mega store is amazing, but we all know that some of it doesn’t taste very good. Some of it has been picked too early, shipped too far and has lost flavor and texture as a result. Some of the produce has been treated to manage ripeness at the cost of flavor.
The best approach is to know what is in season, to buy foods that are grown close to home and to serve them promtly once you get them home. The local farmers market is a fantastic place to buy fresh food and it is a fun outing for the whole family. Getting children involved in the selection of the foods encourages them to eat healthy foods and taste new things.
Enjoy the abundance and flavor of what is in season!

| The BEST Thing To Have For Dinner |
I am a successful person; meaning I get through the day okay. The children sorted off to appropriate activities, the business day is a breeze (most days), but then on the way home I realize that the people at home will expect me to feed them. Every day.
Sometimes, feigning great consideration; I ask my husband “what do you want for dinner?” He feigning equal consideration defers to whatever I want; meaning I have no idea and neither does he. We can actually go on like that for several minutes. Some days it’s a diversion, other times not.
